What does the R500 a month actually cover?
Hosting on business-grade infrastructure, your domain name and its renewal, an SSL certificate kept valid, daily backups, plugin and security updates, uptime monitoring, business email on your own domain, and small content edits — a price change, a new photo, updated hours.It does not cover new pages, new features or a redesign. Those are quoted separately so you always know what you are paying for.
Do I own the website?
Yes. On full payment, the design, the content we wrote for you and the domain are yours. If you ever leave, we hand over the files and transfer the domain once the account is settled.
Can I edit it myself?
Yes, and we would rather you could. Every build ships with a visual editor so you can change text, swap a photo or update a price without touching code. Captain builds include a hand-over training session.
How do payments work?
Once-off build fees are split 50% deposit before work begins and 50% on completion, before the site goes live. Monthly fees are billed monthly in advance. Invoices are payable within seven days.
What happens if I cancel?
Monthly services run month to month with one calendar month's written notice. On a build, the deposit is not refundable and once a build has commenced the full project fee becomes due and payable — a build books out a block of our schedule that we turn other work away to protect.The full terms are in the Cancellation & Refunds policy in the footer, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
Is there a catch at R2 000?
No. It is a small crew with low overheads, working remotely, building on tooling we have refined over many projects. The monthly fee is what makes the once-off fee sustainable — we would rather keep your site healthy for years than charge you more once and disappear.
How long does a build take?
About 14 days from kick-off for a standard Crew build, assuming content and feedback come back when we ask for them. Stowaway is usually a week; Captain is nearer three.
Can you take over a site somebody else built?
Usually yes. We audit it first and tell you honestly whether it is worth migrating or whether a rebuild will cost you less in the long run. Migrations start at R750.
